So its the last choir practice for awhile and I decided to go to the church to finish up painting the youth room. Wow is it quitet around here when you are alone, its hard to picture a more peaceful place than up at Church with no one else. I managed to clean up some stuff and finish the room upstairs I just hope the youth doesn't hate me.

So VBS came to a close last night and in a Oscar worthy incident the people in charge of counting the cans made a ballot error. The card with the tallies was correct we however put the boys first and the girls second so Pastor Gray read the boys first and girls second, sorry Brooke. So both Matt and Brooke got slimed, no one seemed to heart broken they both got it. The whole church is in awe at the almost 1500 cans of food that was donated and all the money that was raised for Samaritans Purse. The whole week was incredible and thank you to all the volunteers this week that gave so much joy to all the kids and brought them closer to Jesus. Thanks to the parents for allowing us to reach out and council your children. The last night included a parent dinner and we where so glad we could interact with you and show you our love for this ministry. We look forward to the camp coming up in 2 weeks and while the kids are away the youth room is going to get some needed care.
Thanks again and we cant wait till next year. So VBS starts today and the whole church is in a frenzy to get ready. Matt and some of the other volunteers stayed late last night to set up. We are all excited for the coming week and cant wait to spend time with all the little ones. Thank you to all the volunteers for setting up and staying with the kids. We wish everyone and great week and to go with Gods grace.
I am so excited about whats happening at the Church. We have a Military appreciation luncheon coming July 8th, we are setting up a BBQ fundraiser coming this month, and we are getting a "Church day out" at Top Golf together. The podcast crew met this week to iron out details on subject matter and studio set up. The website is being polished up to provide more information and more resources thanks to Brian and everyone involved. The sound booth crew is updating some things to allow for a better service experience and get more things transitioned from the sermons to the website. Please look around the website and see all the new resources we have added. Love in Christ. Cultivating Neighborly Love
I have been blessed with some amazing neighbors. One has been an amazing influence in my life on taking care of community and neighborly responsibilities. I recently noticed my neighbor was working in the yard and has had some back problems in the past, so I asked Harrison to ask him if he needed any help. After saying yes Harrison immediately went into the garage to get his gloves and little yard tools. My neighbor went inside and grabbed a signature safari hat I see him wearing in the yard all the time and plopped it on Harrisons head, he giggled with excitement. We showed Harrison what we were trying to do and let him carry dirt from the bags into the flower beds and spread it out. After a short amount of time his methodical and carful dirt piling became flinging the dirt from across the yard trying to get as little dirt in the flower beds as possible. I felt horrible we came to help and now my son is wasting time and dirt, but my neighbor just smiled and helped fling dirt in the same fashion. We all three began trying to outdo each other in distance and accuracy, it had become a game. When we finished with the dirt we sat back and watched Harrison run through the yard commenting on how he was the best gardener ever. I looked at my neighbor and apologized for the mess and the waste. He replied that it was better to waste dirt than the day. He was just so happy we came over and helped. Not all things accomplished are planned and not all things planned are accomplished it’s not how; but it is why we work that glorify Him. |
