Deacons
In addition to elders, the body is served by deacons. Deacons serve under the authority of the elders and provide physical leadership of the church, enabling elders to focus on prayer and the ministry of the Word. The deacons shall choose from among themselves a chairman to organize and lead the deaconate’s ministry and to coordinate with the elder board.
- Deacons are chosen from among the membership. The guideline is at least one deacon per 20 church members. When new deacons are needed, the deacon chairman shall ask for nominations from the membership.
- Deacons are selected by a panel of the elders and current deacons in accordance with the qualification in 1 Timothy 3:8-13.
- They are appointed by a 75% affirmation among the membership.
