Calendar
Fir
st Baptist
Kids' Academy’s
school year runs the same as the Mesquite Independent School District's
[MISD].
We also observe the same holidays and closures as MISD,
except for Teacher In-Service days. Kids' Academy will be open on those days.
Check out "What's Happening"
during each month by going to the
Kids' Academy Calendar.
Curriculum
Kids' Academy
provides a biblically-based curriculum that challenges and inspires
children to explore their world while discovering the God who created
that world. To do that we use a
curriculum called Sunny Hollow Press - an age
appropriate Bible-based program.
In addition to learning
basic Christian beliefs and biblical teaching, we also strive to prepare
your child for entering Kindergarten. To accomplish this we also
use Frog Street, Wee Learn, Mailbox and Scholastics curriculum.
Additional Christian resources are used to
supplement this curriculum like Gospel Light, Thru-the-Bible Coloring
Pages, Tracing pages used to teach children to print their name,
alphabet letters, etc. as well as various age-appropriate books, Internet web
sites, etc.
Why
Have Bible in a Preschool Curriculum?
The preschool age is such a vital time
for you and your child when you'll lay not only the foundation for
learning, but for moral and Biblical training as well. For this
reason, Kids' Bible Academy incorporates Biblical teachings, morals and
values along with the educational skills they'll need to prepare their
hearts and minds to enter Kindergarten.
Your preschooler will enjoy laughing,
singing, crafting and more while learning basic preschool skills with a
Christian emphasis. With so much outside influence, it's never too early
to start imprinting scripture upon the hearts of your children. Our hope
for you is that you will enjoy the "fruit of your labor" as you utilize
our program, which was born out of a labor of love, as well as our
desire to pass on a Christian Heritage to them from the start.
Philosophy
Kids' Academy is a Christ-centered, educational
institution. For us, being “Christ-centered” means that
everything we do, everything we teach, every aspect of the environment
must lead students, directly and indirectly, towards the Lord Jesus
Christ whom we believe is the center of all things.
The school exists to help children by
integrating biblical principles and academic excellence. This
integration of faith and scholasticism takes place in an environment
that addresses the needs of the whole person, which are: the spiritual,
intellectual, physical, emotional, and social needs. By fulfilling
the call of the great commission (making disciples) the school thus
upholds and promotes the vision and spirit to all families in the
community.
Since preschoolers learn through
doing, our classrooms and curriculum are developed around numerous
learning centers. In these centers children gather information and
develop skills that support later academic success. Each center adds its
own unique aspect to the learning process.
